Janie Evelyn Kolbow (Née Leroux)

May 28, 1970 – January 1, 2024

Janie Evelyn Kolbow (Née Leroux) of Ramsey, died Monday, January 1, 2024. Janie was born on May 28, 1970, and grew up on a dairy farm in Hugo with her parents and eleven siblings. She was a 1989 graduate of Centennial High School and attended Forest Lake Senior High from 1984-1988 where she met her future husband, David Kolbow. The two married on September 19, 1992, and together raised five children.


Janie was a caring and compassionate wife and mother who greatly loved her children and grandchildren and dedicated her life to their happiness and success. Janie also found joy in her faith, the smell of spring, the beach, horseback riding, traveling, and spending time with friends and siblings.


She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Hugh and Vivian Walton, Joseph and Irene Leroux; father James Leroux; brother Peter Leroux; and niece Nicole Chelmo. She will be dearly missed by her husband, David Kolbow; children Vanessa (Tyler) Koebnik, Jason (Alex) Kolbow, Josh (Stephanie) Kolbow, Shawn Kolbow, and Ryan Kolbow; grandchildren Kaelia, Olivia, Elora, Raya and Alana; mother Jane Leroux; and siblings Kathleen (Dale) Schwanke, Nancy (Tracy) Chelmo, Victoria (Rich) Krivanek, Dianne (Tim) Dietrich, James (Katie) Leroux, Elizabeth (Carmelo) Cinqueonce, Angela Leroux, Andrew Leroux, Jacob (Gabriel) Leroux, and Stephanie (Justin) Mihm; many nieces and nephews; and lifetime friends Julie Colonna and Julie Geiger.


A private burial was celebrated on Monday, January 7, 2024, at West Oak Grove Cemetery. A public celebration of life picnic will be held on Monday, May 27, 2024, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Regional Park, 7373 Main Street, Lino Lakes, MN, 55038.

Words of memorial will be spoken at 11am by James Leroux and David Kolbow. After which we welcome any additional attendees to come forward and speak as they feel moved.
